Xenophobia - how rediculous Russia is becoming
A friend on his return to Russia from marrying his bride in the U.K was greeted by the following front page news on a local rag today:
"Our women, the most beautiful and best in the world, are going abroad. By doing this, they are wasting the most valuable thing we have -- the gene pool of our nation," Kuryanovich told Ekho Moskvy radio. Maybe, he could add scientists, engineers, IT, and practically any talented individual in Russia seeking opportunities to develop as people abroad to his list...
A new bill, presented by the Liberal Democratic Party, clearly attacks the Russian Bride trade. Maybe, they're trying to get an angle of developing some club funds or aiming to get some shares in the firms. It's beyond ridiculous... did they say Liberal Democrats? I wonder if they actually understand what the term means.. Russia's level of xenophobia is hitting nerves and beginning to be more public by the day. One would hope the bill would not be passed, but there again one would have hoped Foreigners would be equal to Russians with regards to salary and taxes too, but not so as foreigners are squeezed out by their sheer cost of hiring..
People will meet across cultures and marry regardles of these so called politicians. He went on to say, 'Russians who marry foreigners could be exiled and stripped of their citizenship,' under a bill being drafted by a group of State Duma deputies.
At this juncture, one would wonder if that would be any loss at all!!
The Candid Russia Brighton weekend Bash is, surprisingly, fully booked....

Outa here....
